A 19-YEAR-OLD apprentice mechanic was caught drink-driving twice in less than five months, Newcastle Local Court heard yesterday.
Matthew George Ott, of Tea Tree Drive, Medowie, pleaded guilty to mid-range PCA when he appeared in Newcastle Local Court yesterday.
A police statement of facts said Ott was stopped by police for a random breath test in Parry St, Cooks Hill at 4.54am on November 10 last year.
He recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.085.
Ott admitted to drinking a schooner of full-strength beer, two small bottles of vodka and one bourbon and Coke at a hotel.
The court heard that Ott was driving his father's car on the night and fearing his wrath made the incorrect decision to drive.
Magistrate Michael Morahan ordered Ott to perform 50 hours of community service and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
He had been placed on a good behaviour bond after being charged with mid-range PCA on June 15 last year.
